Ion charge Pimp out. [Jun. 12th, 2009|04:39 pm]
Hey Lady’s and Gents!

I recently worked on a game! Woo! Its my first! Heres some construction talk all about it! Hope your all well out here in LJ land!

Anyways, I was hired freelance (you can STILL hire me btw) to do all the graphics for the game, its just been released and I've been given the go-ahead to post my work up here! The games called Ion charge and its for the Iphone going for something like a buck! It involves pulling an avatar across puzzle maps using a unique magnet system.

Here’s a U-tube clip of the game if your interested!
And if you have the Unity Web Player installed you can play it for free here.

Over the course of 18 hours I drafted up concepts and built up the models to spec. My guidelines where that it was supposed to look similar to Tron (example here), and that there should be no more than roughly 1000 triangles on the screen at a time.

Anyways enough talk here’s what I produced!
Cutt cause of the big image sizes! )

And there you go! My Client Calvin Rien (all work copyrighted to him btw so don’t go using it!) was very happy with what he received, and I think the overall game works very well! Would love to know what you lot think; this is the first time I've had to go to such a low poly/texture size on a project (I think Im most comfortable with 128's), and my first Iphone game project! I had a ball with all that pixel manipulation!

Updates. [Feb. 10th, 2009|10:50 pm]
Just updated my website!!!

Internationalhobo.com

I scrapped the old flash for new (much more finicky but flexible) flash!!! Using a smaller thumbnail gallery on the side of the images opposed to one main thumbnail gallery, means I can showcase more work than before (I struggle to reduce my portfolio!). Also means I can attach HTML to the comments (and dedicate space to comments), which frees up the clutter I had in my 'about' page'.

Anywhos, there's a bunch of new work in there if your at all interested (the ice monolith seems to perk the interest of some). And hopefully in a few weeks I'll have a kick ass next gen mass-effect-2 Armour to add to it.

Looking for feedback and corrections! (if the website doesn't load properly, its the old websites code fighting from the grave; clear your cache and it should load ok).

Almost a month since I last posted eh? Wow!

I feel like my relationship with live journal has changed some what to more a social connection device; I don’t have much to post now-a-days, but you guys do and I love to read all about it!

So I’ve just gotten back from playing DnD for the first time in 5? Years? It was a lot different that I remembered fun but… different! Its good to socialise with geeks again =p

Work on the portfolio has ground to a halt; I was hoping to get some sketches from Bill but he’s gotten busy with more pressing work. At the same time I’ve been feeling really demoralised over my building trial thing, and don’t want to take it further (I could but it would be a much larger investment that I had originally envisioned).

But hey, I’ve managed to start swimming again. Which is a great thing for the depressions, but a bit of a pain in the wallet.

Annnnd, Life as a married man is still aces!

Worrrrrkkkk.

It seems that all I do now-a-days is portfolio work; rewarding stuff, but it does nothing for the wallet =/

Wanna see what Im doing at the moment? Check the cutt;
3D! )

And that’s enough about games. Today I went ahead and brought some Reebok shoes online; risky business, but they let you customize them! How could I refuse! The reason I’ve gone and done this is that I’m hopefully approaching the time when I can work out here, and my current shoes are a bit battle worn. I had to buy them online because apparently Reebok are impossible to find in Portland, and the reason I stick with that brand is that their the only shoes that don’t make my feet bleed; my ankles aren’t like normal ankles (I blame Taekwondo).

Anyways, that’s me in a tea cup. Erikas ill with the Lurgy, and full of foul farts! How you lot doing?

You know Im not much of a fan of making resolutions. But I'll take it as an excuse to write down a list of stuff I would like to do at some point, some time.

-I would like to take part/host a underwear party.
-I would like to visit more strip clubs with the wifey (also take some friends out to strip clubs; especially the ones who have never been before!)
-Make some new friends on my own (as in they don't meet me through Erika)
-I'm going to try and drink less at social gatherings
-I would like to play more games that arn't WoW
-make table top gaming (dnd, go and such) a more frequent and social hobby.
-Find a well paying and rewarding job.
-finish making a kick ass portfolio site, and give my gaming career one last push.
-And also; find an american swimming pool that doesn't give me scabies and get my body back into shape.

Yeah =D

On a separate note, in the space of one morning Erika has managed to poke me in the same eye twice, body slam my balls into excruciating pain, and cut my face bloody with her nails. All in the name of snuggling.

SO Im pretty sure now that the mice/rats have either left or where never really here. None of my traps have gone off, the poison has been untouched, and there are no new signs of mice (also new neighbors have moved in, so maybe the mice went back home? Who knows!).

The days have been slipping by so fast lately; A few nights ago I managed to drink myself half to death on 20 year old super classy scotch. It was wonderful until I woke up. And a few days before that, Erika and I hung out with Jeannette, Adam and Meesh, until a mad hour in the morning (we visited a little coffee place that seemed like it had been taken from a roald dahl page), it was pretty aces.

Works been going super slow for me recently; its really hard to stay on Erika's back and make her work/do chores, and do them myself at the same time. We've got to find a easier way. (Im kind of hoping that once my 2nd screen gets shipped out from the uk, I'll be able to watch movies and tv programs WHILE I work (like back in uni) instead of work OR watch-tv.)

Urgggg.... and lets see... Oh yeah; if I where to invest time into a webcomic that would be done in 3D would you rather a retro styled zombie survival comic, or a retro style medieval fantasy comic? I keep leaning from one to the other!

Oh man, first Christmas away from the family!!!

Right now Im all cooking a feast for the wife (it'll last us a few days I hope), while she takes a kip in bed (its almost 3pm!).

Erika and I opened up the family gifts this morning; my mother and father (in their separate family's) are wonderfully kind and gave us all sorts of stuff; it was aces. Then I gave Erika the best gift ever; a big fat commissioned illustration from Lucy Kinsley (who is an amazingly talented artist), in return I was showered with Dvd's and books (of the awesome kind), and thweres apparently something else in the works? Who knows!

This weeks been pretty weird; I dipped my toe back into Wow, and quickly quit again (I don't want to waste my life away agggain, but its so... wonderful), this weekend we're going to a fancy little party, and theres the chance we'll get to hang out with Adam and Jeannette (of furry art fame) again. All in all its aces. And I can't even describe how fantastic it is to be with my wife and partner, so you know; a pretty great little Christmas.

Also, I can't say I haven't been drinking much already (I had a fancy bottle of wine I had been saving =D). Share the love folks!
